Annual Conference

The committee plans the Annual Conference, which includes Projects Preview where utility contractors learn about upcoming projects for bid; exhibits to showcase the latest products and services that your business offers to utility contractors; education sessions; annual meeting; team building activity and banquet.

Clay Shoot Challenge 

The committee plans the Clay Shoot Challenge. This event brings together an average of 90-100 people for a day of camaraderie and networking.

Industry and Government Relations

The committee plans Projects Preview, works with NUCA of Nebraska’s lobbying firm to introduce and support legislation impacting the underground utility construction industry; monitors state legislative and regulatory issues impacting the industry, lobbies Nebraska’s delegation in Congress on federal issues impacting infrastructure; and oversees advocacy activities.

One Call

The committee promotes use of the One Call system; reviews the state statutes and educates NUCA of Nebraska members on everyone's responsibilities; advocates for changes to improve the One Call law; generates best in class practices and policies for NUCA of Nebraska members to use for documentation and disputing claims, damages and unmarked and mismarked lines.

NUCA of Nebraska Political Action Committee

The NUCA of Nebraska Political Action Committee (PAC) interviews candidates running for state legislature; helps coordinate identify and engagement of members who are key legislative candidates for grassroots advocacy; asks members to contribute to the PAC, and selects candidates that will receive PAC contributions.

Workforce Development

The committee identifies opportunities and activities to help expand the pool of qualified labor, in order to assist NUCA of Nebraska member contractor companies in attracting and retaining employees. Opportunities include: participating in hands-on stations with high school students at Construction Career Days around the state, giving a presentation to students in the classroom about career options in the construction industry; job site tours; and offering a co-op, financial contributions or leasing equipment for the Central Community College Heavy Equipment Operator Technician Program.
